Directions to The Touchstone Hotel

For those traveling to San Francisco, we always like to recommend that you avoid cars if at all possible. Traffic in the Bay Area often borders between terrible and horrendous. If you can climb into a vehicle, relax and let someone else drive you around, you should. And you can.

Taxi cabs are readily available at San Francisco Airport. Their rates should be in the neighborhood of $35-40 for a one-way trip, pending traffic. After collecting your baggage, exit the building and look for the taxi cab sign. Just tell the driver you are going to The Touchstone at 480 Geary Street (we're located between Mason and Taylor Streets) and they will bring you straight to our doorstep.

Lower cost shuttle services are also available at a low fixed rate per person, an excellent and economical choice if you are traveling alone or with only one other person. After collecting your baggage, go upstairs to the second level of the airport, and look for the sign for the Shuttles. There are several shuttle companies that serve the airport. We recommend Lorries Shuttle Service for prompt convenient service.

Rental Cars

If possible, we highly recommend against bringing a car. San Francisco, with all its one-way streets, no left turns and numerous other drivers, can be a trying task for locals to drive in, let alone those less familiar with our city. If you intend to spend your entire stay in San Francisco, there is really no need for a car. We are very centrally located and public transportation is easily available. If you are in need of a car for one or two day trips outside the city, you can easily rent one from one of the many rental car agencies located within a two-block radius. However, if you are in need of a car for your entire stay, we have planned for you also. Simply follow the directions below to our front door and park in the Valet Zone in front of our door. Then come in and let the Customer Service Manager behind the desk know that you are in need of Valet parking and we will call them for you. The charges for the valet service can be added to your room bill so you can take care of everything at check-out.

Valet services are only available during the operating hours of our local valet service provider, which can vary seasonally. If you will need your car parked upon arrival, please contact us at (415) 771-1600 to let us know the time of your arrival. Should you arrive after the valet's hours, there are several clearly marked 24-hour parking garages within a one block radius of the hotel.

Driving Directions

Driving on Highway 101 North (traveling from the south):

• Take 101 North to 80 East
• Exit at 4^th Street
• At the bottom of the off-ramp, go straight, onto Bryant Street
• Take Bryant to 3^rd Street, turn left on 3^rd Street
• Take 3^rd Street until you cross Market Street, then turn left onto Geary Street
• Follow Geary Street untill you cross Mason Street. The Touchstone Hotel is located on the right side of the street, nearly at the end of the block.

• Take 80 West across the Bay Bridge
• Exit at 5^th Street
• At the bottom of the off-ramp, turn left onto 5^th Street
• Take 5^th Street to Bryant Street, turn left on Bryant Street
• Take Bryant to 3^rd Street, turn left on 3^rd Street
• Take 3^rd Street until you cross Market Street, then turn left onto Geary Street
• Follow Geary Street until you cross Mason Street. The Touchstone Hotel is located on the right side of the street, nearly at the end of the block.

• Take 101 South across the Golden Gate Bridge
• Take 101 South onto Lombard Street
• Take Lombard Street to Van Ness Avenue, right onto Van Ness Avenue
• Take Van Ness Avenue to Bush Street, turn left onto Bush Street
• Take Bush Street to Mason Street, turn right onto Mason Street
• Take Mason Street to Geary Street, turn right onto Geary Street. The Touchstone Hotel is located on the right side of the street, nearly at the end of the block.
